typewriter poetry & gestural drawing

I will be offering free 1-minute gestural portrait sketches alongside John Carter, who will be available for prompt-inspired typewriter poetry!

Receive the gifts of art and story in one trip! While waiting as John creates a poem or story inspired by your prompt, pose for an expressive, quick portrait drawing by me. I will have an array of colored brush markers to choose from.

For the extra patient, I can also draw your portrait on the same sheet that John will write your story on! Otherwise I will

These offerings are free, but we will both be accepting tips and donations for our creations!

what is a gesture drawing?

Gestural drawings are quick sketches which lay the foundation of most figure and portrait drawings. This style is marked by rough, energized strokes which focus on capturing the feel, shape, and proportion of the subject (in this case, YOU!). Gesture pieces are often used as warm ups in figure drawing sessions.

One of my passions is to challenge myself with timed gestural drawings during performances and social events. I love to see how much I can capture of a person in a short timeframe. I use pens and markers to provide myself opportunities to accept imperfection and not get caught up in trying to get it ‘right.’

I will have an array of colored brush markers for you to choose from - each piece will be monochrome, meaning that it will use only one color.

I hope to see you there!
